BECKETT IN REPERTOIRE 3
BECKETT IN REPERTOIRE 3
Beckett Repertoire is the third production of Companhia Nova de Teatro. Dedicated to Samuel Beckett, it was made due the centenary of the irish playwright with two plays: Waiting for Godot and Breath.
SYNOPSES
Waiting for Godot – Beckett made in this play a mixture of comedy, fine sense of humor, and a poignant image of human destiny. In this play, the characters Vladimir and Estragon discuss the human condition in a metaphorical way, while are waiting for a certain “Godot”.
Breath – Written in English, around 1966, this play was left behind and then sent to New York as requested by Kenneth Tynan for the “Oh! Calcutta” magazine. The first performance of this play was on July 16, 1969, in the Eden Theater, New York. This is the shortest Beckett’s play which lasts one minute and a half approximately. Life is summarized during a short period of light between two cries and two blackouts.
