Beckett in Repertoire II is the second incursion of Cia. Nova de Teatro in the universe of the playwright which includes three short plays: Not I, Ohio Improprtu and Catatrosphe.

Not I – Written in 1972, the premiere was in this year at the Forum Theather of the Lincoln Center, New York. Inevitably, Beckett’s theatrical style is brought out to a physical part – the mouth. The concision of  visual experience is juxtaposed strictly in a storm of lost words which come out from the mouth to a listener who is just listening powerless,  standing in the black out. Those words are about birth, life and greed, of the sin of being born. A disturbing inner journey to the subconscious,  of a woman.

Ohio Improptu – Written in 1980 to the Samuel Beckett Symposium due the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the playwright, in the Ohio State University, Columbus. A reader man (L) reads to a listener (O) a fragmented novel which tells how  a loved one sent him a messenger who reads him a book: obviously this book is the message, in other words, the life story of the listener, causing on him the consciousness  of a failed life.

Catastrophe  –  The action of this play happens in a theater. D is an authoritarian stage diretor. A is his humble and obedient assistant. Lucas is the stage lightner who is in the darkness. P is the protagonist of the play who remains in silence and moveless as a marionette intende to please the director’s wishes. Written in 1982, standing up for human rights, this play portrays the subjectivity and servitude in art.
